Samuel was a leader of God who served the nation of Israel. He was in fact the last one to serve as a judge in the time of judges for Israel because he was the one who anointed the first (and second) king of Israel. It is incredible that the nation of Israel asked that Samuel do not stop crying out to the Lord for them. God’s given each of us people on whose behalf we can cry out to God. And God has given us to them, and one of their greatest roles is to cry out to God on our behalf. We thank God for the body of Christ. We are a body and we are not to live or serve in isolation. I cry out to God for Him to have mercy on and empower my family. I thank God for pastors who pray on behalf of their churches. I believe our pastors are praying on our behalf. I encourage anyone to have the opportunity to pray for and with one of their pastors in their church. This was established because God wanted us to function out of community.
Dear Father, teach us to pray for one another. Teach us what it means to cry out to You, Lord on the behalf of others. Thank you, God, for those who cry out to you on our behalf.
