But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” ~ Ruth 1:16-17

This is the heart of the humble and obedient. The heart of Ruth. This is what I want to say, “O God, if You are there, then there I am!” God, I’ll go where you go and where you are there I will be too. God the Father loves this attitude, which also reminds me of Jacob. Ruth said, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people…” She’s saying, I don’t care what they look like, where they live, or what, if they are your people then they are my people. She said, “…and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried.” This is a made up mind. Let’s make up our minds to follow Jesus. No turning back. No turning back.

Ruth and Boaz married and Ruth had a son, Obed, and the women said about Naomi, “Naomi has a son!” If you know Naomi’s life before that time, then you know! It was very bitter. Here’s the beauty: Obed’s son was Jesse, and Jesse’s son was David. We can say again, “Naomi has a son!” But that’s not it. When God turns it around, HE TURNS IT AROUND. Through David’s family, there is another Son. His name is Jesus. AGAIN: “Naomi has a son!” This time He is The King of kings and the Lord of lords. God knows how to make beauty out of ashes. Let’s trust Him today. “Naomi has a son.”
