Jesus gave us a clear command. His command is, “Love one another.” We have an example through which we can obey His command. That example is Jesus. Jesus said, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” That word “must” can be encouraging. In other words, Jesus can be saying here: Because God gave me the power and grace to love you, God will also give you the power and grace to love one another. It MUST happened because I’ve gone ahead of you and I’ve done it; therefore I transfer it to you. This is the way it works when you accept the righteous; you receive the righteous’ reward.
The Holy Spirit enables us to love one another. It’s by the power and grace of God through the Holy Spirit and through the POWER of His word that we are filled with God’s power to love and forgive.
By this, everyone will know that you are Jesus’ disciples; not because you did something of your own on your own, but because they know and we all know that it could not have been done, but by the power of God, that you loved one another. It’s got Jesus’ signature all over it.
So let’s love one another.
Jesus, thank you for the grace and power and mercy you have on us to love one another. Give us the grace again, and again, and again, to love one another in Christ. Amen.
Thank you, Father, for being our All in All. We love you. Bless your name today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
