In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  ~ 1 Peter 5:5-6

Peter, speaking to the church, reveals something profound. The enemy wants us to be isolated because there and only there, where you are not under the authority of anyone or held accountably by a body of people and supporters, there is where pride can grow the most. Let’s talk mentorship. Pray for mentors. Pray to be submitted under others who can help you grow spiritually, as a parent, spouse, financial provider, because when you are submitted under the company of a healthy (not perfect, but healthy) group or person in an area where you desire to grow, there is where humility can germinate and grow in our lives. Accountably is the best repellent against pride, and the greatest accelerate to humility. Jesus, before the beginning of His ministry, submitted under John the Baptist to be baptized. Pride leads to isolation, but humility leads to community. Let’s pray to walk humbly with our God and I believe we’ll see more opportunities for mentorship from others as well as mentoring others who need it.
